      <image:title>Home v1 - Let’s make schoolwork wild.</image:title>
<image:caption>Educating Earthlings takes teachers and students off the beaten path and into wild places, right where they are. We have the outdoors at hand for our library of resources, our class of fellow learners and our college of teachers. This nature-based learning is available everywhere and accessible to all. We’ll design projects, conduct professional development and maintain support. Let’s build on the wisdom of the natural world, the enthusiasm of students and the expertise of their teachers. Together, we can thrive, be curious, learn and belong. It’s a wild idea.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Home v1 - Why Rewild?</image:title>
<image:caption>Earthlings need to thrive, to be curious, to learn and to be grounded. We are at school in an unsettling era of ecological disruption, social reckoning and personal disconnection. Educators have a duty to work for the good of their students today, and prepare for our future. By stepping outdoors for meaningful school work, students and teachers will feel better, grow with one another, and attach themselves to their Wild Places.</image:caption>

Rewilding our schoolwork strengthens the best skills for teachers at all levels and across every discipline. Educating Earthlings partners with schools to design the most effective practices and nature-based projects to challenge and inspire all teachers and learners.</image:caption>

<image:caption>It’s complicated. Our needs to thrive, to be curious, to learn and to belong take on a particular priority for Earthlings in our current age of cascading crises. Together we’ll make careful decisions for our children growing up with the complexities of the Anthropocene.</image:caption>

<image:title>The Real World - What is the Real World?</image:title>
<image:caption>The real world includes rocks, trees, water, and us. It’s complex, awe-inspiring, and mysterious. It’s wild, and more importantly, it’s in action right now, just outside. Any academic subject or group can centre outdoor spaces and plunge into their wild education; the real world is open to all kinds of learners and requires only direct observation as a point of entry. Based on experiences in nearby nature, Educating Earthlings uses schoolwork to begin to satisfy our most important needs: namely, the need to be curious, to learn, to thrive, and to belong. We have the natural world as an educational resource, as a college of teachers, and as an inspiration to pay attention and investigate.</image:caption>

<image:title>The Real World - How do we learn in the Real World?</image:title>
<image:caption>Our perspectives connect us. We are bound to the world in deep ecological ways - by our senses, our stories, our genes, and all that we exchange with other Earthlings. As a result, learning in the real world means considering our sensory, cultural, genetic, and chemical Perspectives (as well as 8 others) as we encounter our surroundings, participate and learn. Real world professional development leads schools to embed important projects in the nearby nature as provocation, resource, and instructor. The Educating Earthlings Field Guide outlines 12 Perspectives in detail for classroom use. The Field Guide structures our professional development, incorporates our BUILD model, and can inspire every teacher to take steps off the beaten path and further into the natural world. Educating Earthlings provides a unique set of Perspectives and our BUILD framework for teachers. Our professional development training features a shared planning process, ongoing support, and investigations on all sides.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Wild Education - What is BUILD?</image:title>
<image:caption>This is professional development for professional educators. B - Through Branching, we create opportunities for practice, feedback, small-scale trials, and low-risk products. Our goal is reiteration (not repetition), with time and energy centred on growth experiences. U - Universally applicable, our Learning Designs can be customized by every teacher to enrich assessments or day-to-day lessons, no matter the grade or subject specialization. I - This plan is Immersive, leading students and teachers alike to dig deeply into materials and interact intensively with collaborators - to stay awhile and explore. L D - Our Learning Designs are deployed for explicit curriculum goals; are directed at specific skills and attitudes; are student-centred and inquiry driven; are flexible and sensitive to differentiation; are open to student voice and choice; and position the teacher as co-learner, audience, facilitator, and steward. BUILD is a scalable and flexible program that is immediately applicable and meaningful for any educational plan - from single short lessons to year-long courses.</image:caption>

<image:title>Wild Education - How does BUILD professional development work?</image:title>
<image:caption>BUILD thinking centres important ideas that matter. Our BUILD professional development employs a planning framework that equips teachers to embed learning in key concepts, essential materials, and collaboration. As a program that is student-centred, inquiry-driven, and open to student voice and choice - and that encourages thoughtful feedback and a growth mindset - Educating Earthlings’ BUILD framework efficiently transforms proven pedagogical principles into best practice. The Earthlings professional development program progresses through 3 integral phases. First, participants explore the fundamentals of the BUILD program. Next, we conduct an immersive collaborative example in real time. This leads to the final phase, in which we “workshop” specific lesson plans for use and assessment. Every participant takes away an improved technique for classroom planning and tactics that equip them to conduct great immersive teaching. Learning communities and curricula can be immediately transformed.</image:caption>

<image:caption>The Real World is wild, complex, beautiful, includes rocks, trees, and water, and is in action right outside our doors. Best educational practice is well documented and an ongoing vital research track for teaching and learning professionals. Educating Earthlings deploys a BUILD structure that relies on our strongest pedagogical tactics to do our best work more often, more readily and more instinctively.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Research Overview - The Real World Research</image:title>
<image:caption>Our program of professional development and collaborative planning is intended for schools seeking to embed important assignments and projects in the natural world as provocation, resource and guide. We are connected to the world in deep ecological ways - by our senses, our stories, our genes and the materials we exchange with each other. And so, we have sensory, cultural, genetic and chemical means, and 8 more specific Connectors to consider as we encounter and learn from our surroundings. Educating Earthlings describes this set of Connectors, and employs our BUILD framework for teachers. There is a shared planning process, ongoing professional support available, investigations on all sides and good health built into this good work. The EE Field Guide structures the professional development, incorporates our BUILD teaching model, and can inspire every teacher to take steps off the beaten path and further into the real world.</image:caption>
